Delcam's Power Solution
CADCAM software has been developed over more than 30 years to give fast,
efficient design, manufacture and inspection of all types of tooling,
including molds for plastics, rubber, composites, glass and ceramics, and
press tools, patterns and casting equipment for metals. For all these
applications, Delcam's software provides a comprehensive solution to increase
productivity and speed delivery at all stages, from the receipt of the
customer's design through to the inspection of sample components.
Moldmaking
Delcam's
Power Solution gives benefits to companies making all types of molds, including
injection molds for plastics, rubber or ceramics, blow molds for plastics or
glass, and compression molds and lay-up tools for composites. The software
supports every stage in the development of a mold from receipt of a CAD model
of the product through the design, manufacture and assembly of the various
components. An inspection module can be used at all stages to confirm the

Designers and manufacturers of press tools face a number of
significant and unique challenges. Delcam has partnered with a number of
leading manufacturers, including Ogihara, Hyundai and First Auto Works China,
to enable our staff first to understand the specific needs of the industry
and then to develop particular features within the Power Solution suite of
CADCAM software to meet these demands.
Patternmaking
Delcam's Power Solution software allows patternmakers to move
from traditional methods based on drawings to modern, computer-based
three-dimensional modelling and machining. The use of 3D computer models
removes the ambiguity inherent in 2D drawings, so reducing mistakes and
rework, while adding CNC machining allows productivity and accuracy to be
increased and delivery times to be shortened.
Die casting
Delcam's Power Solution helps companies speed all stages of the
design and manufacture of cast metal components. PowerSHAPE¡¦s hybrid
modelling combines the best of solid and surface modelling to give the flexibility
needed when developing the complex shapes now used in the casting industry.
PowerMILL provides fast and reliable generation of toolpaths for the
machining of either patterns or dies. The software supports a wide range of
machining strategies, including options for high-speed machining and 5 Axis
machining, and also offers flexible toolpath editing, and integrated toolpath
verification and post-processing. Together, these features allow more
accurate tooling to be made and so ensure that more accurate parts are
produced. This keeps costs down by minimising the amount of finish machining
needed on the castings and by ensuring that the consistency is high enough to
allow these operations to be automated.
